Mothers and calves enjoy sunshine

Cattle can graze on the heath land

       Young stock graze new grass

Our main enterprise is a closed herd of Single Suckled, cross-bred beef cows which we run alongside a small herd of pedigree Limousin cattle.  Some of the calves are sold at weaning, about 8 months old, at Truro market, others are kept at home on the farm.  The steers are kept on a high protein diet and finished quickly for the meat market, where they will be sold as “finished” beef at around 15 months old, whilst the heifers are turned out to roam the higher part of the farm to mature slowly.  Some are selected for breeding at 18 months old and a few will carry on to “finish” for our traditionally reared beef for the farm shop at about 30 months old

Our 300 free range hens have the run of 2 acres with a view over towards the Lizard. New housing gives them shelter and nest boxes,
